The Disability Statement
Our providers' responsibility to you
Our adult education provision is commissioned from a number of providers
including further education colleges and our community colleges.
Our agreement with providers require them to:
- work within our equal opportunities policy in relation to adult learners
and employees,
- run courses that encourage and enable the participation of disabled
people,
- enable effective communication between students and staff,
- consult with students and the wider community,
- promote the inclusion of disabled people,
- have an effective complaints procedure.
What to expect from the providers which work with the
East Sussex County Council
When you contact any provider there are a number of questions that you
might ask:
- "What learning support is available?"
- "What technological support is available?"
- "What staff expertise in teaching and supporting disabled people
is available?"
- "What links are there with other agencies that might provide
additional support and assistance?"
- "How can the college be reached by public transport? What are
the parking arrangements for disabled people?"
- "Are there easily accessible buildings and other facilities?"
- "What are the examination and assessment arrangements?"
- "Is the help available for course and examination fees?"
- "What is the complaints procedure?"
What to do if the arrangement made by the college is
unsatisfactory
In the first instance complaints should be made to the college.
If it is not resolved then you should contact:
