The Disability Statement for adult learners in East Sussex Local Education Authority.

[The Disability Statement can also be downloaded as one file from our 'downloads' page.]

Introduction

East Sussex's Education service recognises the importance of ensuring that disabled people have access and can participate in the further education provision made by the local health authority.

We define 'disabled people' as:

those people with a range of impairments, including mental health issues, learning difficulties, physical and sensory impairments.

This is a guide for disabled people who wish to participate in adult learning opportunities within East Sussex. It was written in consultation with East Sussex Disability Association.

The aim is to provide information on how disabled people can obtain information on educational facilities, admissions arrangements, transport, fees, and learning support within the area.

Adult learning opportunities are also provided by the further education colleges and other private and voluntary providers. The local education authority is committed to working in partnership with these organisations to increase the range and accessibility of learning opportunities for all.

East Sussex County Council aspires to be an equal opportunities employer and service provider and this underpins all our work.
